Alice in Dairyland Candidates to be Announced March 15 in Green County
MADISON – The 72nd Alice in Dairyland top candidates will be announced Friday, March 15 by the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Media is invited to attend an announcement press conference at 1:30 p.m. at the New Glarus Hotel in New Glarus.
Following the official announcement, 71st Alice in Dairyland Kaitlyn Riley and the candidates will be available for interviews and photos.
Over the following eight weeks, the Alice in Dairyland candidates will prepare for the three-day Alice in Dairyland Finals, scheduled May 9-11 in Green County, host county for the 2019 finals. The final’s process includes agribusiness tours, media interviews, an agricultural topics discussion panel, individual interviews, and candidate presentations at the Finale Program. The 72nd Alice in Dairyland selection will be announced live at the conclusion of the Finale Program on May 11 in the Monroe Middle School Auditorium in Monroe.
Alice in Dairyland is Wisconsin’s agricultural ambassador and the position holder travels thousands of miles across the state annually presenting to students, completing media interviews and attending community events to promote the state’s agriculture industry. Candidates completed an application and a preliminary interview. Alice in Dairyland is a full-time public relations employee of DATCP and serves a one-year term. The 72nd Alice in Dairyland will begin serving in June, 2019.
