Acrylic International Biennial Juried Exhibition on Display in Kenosha August 17 - October 27
The Acrylic International Biennial Juried Exhibition will be on display at the Kenosha Public Museum from August 17 through October 27. This is a celebration of contemporary acrylic art from talented artists around the globe. The exhibition showcases a diverse range of styles and techniques, highlighting the versatility and vibrancy of the acrylic medium. Forty-five artists from across the United States and as far away as Malaysia push the boundaries of creativity and expression.
Paintings were selected by juror Reginald Baylor, an accomplished acrylic painter who also works in many other mediums for both fine art and commercial clients. His striking, distinctive works can be seen in numerous public and private collections including the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Black Cat Alley mural project in Milwaukee. Baylor was the first artist-in-residence at the Pfister Hotel from 2009-2010 and is the first-ever artist-in-residence at the new Ascent building, the tallest mass timber building in the world.
A free public reception to celebrate this exhibit and the Lemon Street Gallery: 25 Years of Creativity exhibit, which will run concurrently, will be held from 1-4pm on Saturday, September 14. Mingle with artists, enjoy insightful discussion about their creative processes, and gain a deeper appreciation for the works on display.
In 2022, the Acrylic International Biennial Exhibition was first held at the Kenosha Public Museum. This was the first time the museum hosted an international juried art exhibit, thanks to a $100,000 endowment from the International Society of Acrylic Painters. The exhibit returns every other year as a biennial event.
The Kenosha Public Museum is located at 5500 1st Avenue. The museum’s hours are Mon.-Sat. 10am-5pm, Sun. 12-5pm.; closed holidays. General admission is free.
