40 Year Sturgeon Tradition
Nancy Seelow (left) and Anne Hoerning combined their talents to wrestle this 133 pound, 73-inch sturgeon from beneath Winnebago ice on the northwest side of the lake near Payne’s Point. Seelow, who tagged the fish, has been participating in the tradition for 40 years. She said that “the sturgeon came into the hole at 3 feet under the ice and we could see him as clear as day! “
