It’s Easter week

3-28-2013

We’re going to let go of the hunting and fishing in this space and turn to things more important. You will still find about 25 outdoor stories, photos and news items that we’ve posted just in the last two days on this website under firearms, inland fishing, outdoor news, fishing reports, archery, deer hunting, fly fishing, upland game, Explore Wisconsin, and ice fishing.

And technically I guess this Blog is still about fishing. I’m flipping a line mainly to you young guys who feel lost, with no direction. If it’s anything like my “regular” fishing, the odds say I will lose most of you. But know that it’s offered from the heart as an alternative from the venom spit at you daily from the “If it feels good do it, love the one you’re with” society.

You are sheep among wolves. Truth is the best wolf ammunition, though, and it will set you free.

Learn and strive to follow the true laws knowing you will fail often. We all do. That’s okay. Keep trying. Get back up. I am the king of falling down, but I have begun each day like this for at least 10 years.

Say...
I will not covet what my neighbor has. (Of course it’s okay to want good things. But also know that you can earn them on your own God-given talent. You’re probably better at doing something than anyone else out there. Go find it. Everything else will come. Remember, you will fall down many times)

Say...
I will not bear false witness. (You will not lie about anyone or anything. You will tell the truth. That’s how honorable you are .I can see it from here.)

Say...
I will not steal. (There is nothing out there that you want that you can’t plan for and earn with your own talent. You are a talented young man. Didn’t anyone ever tell you that?)

Say...
I will not commit adultery. (When you marry, you will honor your wife and the vows that you promised her. I expect that much from you. She deserves it. So do you in return.)

Say...
I will not kill. (You have no greater respect than your respect for human life)

Say...
I will honor my father and mother (In my case, this was easy. I understand that maybe your father or mother isn’t even around. I’m sure that has been most difficult. Maybe we can adjust this slightly to, “I will be a father worthy of my children’s honor.)

Say...
I will remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. (Every Sunday if possible, rest, and search for the truth. If you want to find the light in this darkness, turn first from the wolves.)

These are laws of God, not to be confused with the Hollywood remake; “The 10 Suggestions...and what’s in it for me?” In addition to these commandments, each morning I ask to “follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.”

And brother, do I fail there too. Thanks for connecting with On Wisconsin Outdoors. Shoot straight.

Remember Friday. Remember Sunday. Remember Him.
