Welcome O’Reilly Auto Parts, Leinenkugels

With the July-August issue due off the presses on Friday, June 26, know that On Wisconsin Outdoors can now be picked up at no cost at any of 104 O’Reilly Auto Parts stores in Wisconsin (20 in northern Illinois) and the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company “Leinie Lodge” in Chippewa Falls.

Leinenkugels will also be advertising with OWO and sponsoring the Dan Moericke field column, and we appreciate also the long-term advertising commitment that O’Reilly Auto Parts has made to OWO.  Very soon, we will also have each location listed on our homepage for your convenience. Right now, if you want to read a little about the phenomenal history of O’Reilly Auto Parts, and why we’re fortunate to have them as a partner.

It is our advertisers that enable you to take home the paper at no cost, or if you prefer, to connect with every each issue online at www.onwisconsinoutdoors.com.  As always, Kwik Trip will also have your paper waiting for you in each of almost 270 Wisconsin locations, along with that hot cup of coffee and a tank of gas as you start your next fishing trip. Kwik Trip is the place to begin and end every fishing or hunting trip you take.  We do, and we have, for a long time.

Will next week’s Winnebago assault drifting and throwing crankbaits fool the walleyes”?

Speaking of trips, when the real work is done with this issue, I’m heading to the Winnebago system next week again with friend Jim Olsson in an attempt to teach the same lesson to the walleyes that we taught them last year. You may remember we drifted and threw crankbaits on the backside of sweltering weather and caught 15 walleyes to 25 inches.  We’ll be trying an upriver lake first, and if we don’t score we will slip down into Winnebago and try, try again.

Phil Schweik buddy Bob Charlier caught this 52 inch musky this week.

As usual our Outdoor News sections and Inland Fishing page is hot with news and reports. Guide Phil Schweik of Hooksetters Fishing Service, for example, shows a 52 inch musky taken last week with a whole lot more.  Check out Dave Duwe’s reports from Geneva and Delavan, and news from Rice Lake, Washburn County, Minocqua, Hayward Lakes, Price County, Ashland, Richland County, etc. etc. etc.

There are a lot of Wisconsin guides showing us a lot of tactics and catches on these pages every week. If you’re a guide looking for a little attention with whatever is hot on your local water, no matter where that might be, send photos, reports, stories, and of course your contact information and we will post it right here for you.  No charge.  Again, thank our advertisers.

Bob’s Bear Bait a Great Place for More Than One Hunter to Buy Bait as Group

Bob’s Bear Bait is offering special prices for more than one tag holder buying bait as a group. When a full pallet of bait is purchased, take 50 percent off the “singular retail price” said owner Bob Spierings.  “So plan ahead and buy together.”

Also, Bob’s Bear Bait has left the strawberry items detailed below on sale, and added three new baits as sale items this week. Bob’s Bear Bait of Appleton, the largest bear bait supplier in east-central Wisconsin and conveniently located close to Highway 41, carries over 50 different, competitively-priced baits for your baiting needs. Connect with www.BobsBearBait.com every Tuesday to see new bait merchandise on sale, and don’t forget to check out their in-store bait specials.

“Not only do we sell bait, we also sell bear scent lures which can be purchased online,” said Bob’s Bear Bait owner Bob Spierings. “On June 16th we will be putting strawberry topping on sale as one example of how we are serving the hunters right up and through the September season. It is a very effective bait when the wild strawberries are growing naturally in the woods.”

And thank you for connecting with On Wisconsin Outdoors. Shoot straight.
