OWO November-December Hits Streets
The November-December issue of On Wisconsin Outdoors is now posted on our homepage and will be hitting the streets across the state beginning Friday. By next week you should be able to find your copy in any Kwik Trip or Menards, but I wouldn’t wait long. Seriously, they do go fast and with more than 600,000 hunters set to hit the fields for the deer hunt in three weeks, it will probably go faster.

NextBuk Outdoors experts and OWO writers Jarrod Erdody and Lee Gatzke have a real entertaining and informative hunting video posted on our homepage. You’ll want to take five minutes or so and watch “Hunting Riverbend Bucks.” We have received several media packets with an unbelievable amount of information regarding the deer hunt from the DNR. You can link to all of those from our Deer Hunting page.
Our OWO bear expert and guide/owner of Northern Wisconsin Outfitters is on the cover of this issue with a beautiful buck taken in Bayfield County during a recent Wisconsin season. In my opinion the issue is the best yet, and we appreciate the many local and national advertisers that brought this issue to you at no cost. We are listing them here as a sincere thank you. Candace Ferguson uses area guides to show us how the Ashland area is always hot for fishing.

And OWO field reporter Wayne Morgenthaler gives us another peek at what’s hot on the Richland County waters with his sons.
The big outside pulled me back to Vilas County to duck hunt with John Ellis. You may remember that my brother and I had a good greenhead day with good shooting in October. With water down on the dam controlled water, we turned to use of a kayak to help with decoy placement on our hike in hunts. Our shooting stunk, or we would have had another great day. John felt so bad about the whole thing that he changed targets, hunted with brother Steve at the Iron County cabin….and they both missed a bunch of grouse too. Losers.
I’m getting back in the tree as much as possible over the next week. Friends are telling me that bucks are moving unexpectedly early and they’re not sure why. You can’t shoot them though if you’re not out there, right?
Thanks for connecting with On Wisconsin Outdoors. Shoot straight.
