A Thank you To Bucky’s…and to all of our Advertisers & Distributors

On Wisconsin Outdoors

Yesterday, my wife, Lori returned home from a trip to Mukwonago and Bucky’s Fine Meats & Sausage with the hot venison beer sticks, brats and Italians we had ordered a few weeks ago. A doe had been hit by a truck near my home. After the New Berlin cops came and ended its suffering, I took the deer home and butchered it when no else wanted it. That’s what happens when you hunt deer in the far north over the last five or six years where deer populations have declined drastically.  You learn to appreciate a now-rare full freezer and appreciate finely prepared venison. Hello Bucky’s.

Tasting those hot sticks reminded me first, that I should tell you about Bucky’s. I know there are a lot of great butchers in Wisconsin and a lot of great venison processors.  But, if you are a deer hunter and don’t have a place to take your venison and live in southeast Wisconsin, remember Bucky’s in Mukwonago.  Remember too, that I found Bucky’s for venison processing before they found On Wisconsin Outdoors for advertising.

Bucky’s always has about 10 kettles on in their store with their sausages simmering as free samples for their customers or soon to be customers.  In fact, I dare you to taste the free samples and then not spend money on what you just tasted.  You can’t do it. Impossible. I can’t do it and I give up beer for lent.  And I love beer. Am I going on a tangent? Whatever…Bucky’s free samples serve as the ultimate marketing tool. Once I put on 5 pounds in Bucky’s before Dave and Mark Buchholz threw me out. Actually, talk hunting with the owners. They may not let you leave.

Second, tasting that great sausage also reminded me that I should thank all of our last issue advertisers and distributors. If you have a need for their products or services or can pick up On Wisconsin Outdoors in their places of business, remember, these are the people who hand you this paper at no-cost. Consider reciprocating if you can. Thanks for that.

Kwik Trip; buy their premium meats, and use the coupon in On Wisconsin Outdoors to get a free package of buns when you do. Don’t forget too that 252 Kwik Trip stores carry OWO, and don’t forget Kwik Trip Outdoors asks you to text “Deer” to 75309 to win a 4-day bowhunt courtesy of DeerFest Trophy Properties.

See OWO experts and Kwik Trip Outdoors in our booth at DeerFest August 8-10 at Washington County Fair Park, West Bend. Tune in to www.deerfest.com for all the details.

Hope I didn’t just lose Dave and Leni.
