Attention Horicon Goose Hunters!

There has been a change in the Horicon Goose Zone boundary effective in 2014 which converts some areas north of Hwy 23 and west of 73 to the Exterior Zone.  A map highlighting this boundary change can be found at http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/hunt/documents/HoriconZone.pdf.  The new Horicon permit requires the hunter who harvested the goose to punch or slit the permit for the date of kill with total not to exceed season limit.  New to the Horicon Zone this year, the hunter must report each harvested Canada goose within the Horicon Zone within 48 hours of the kill by calling 1-800-99-GOOSE (1-800-994-6673).  The Horicon Zone will retain permit and tag limits, however, there will be no August application deadline.  Please check new zone boundary and ensure that the correct permit is purchased.  If you have any questions regarding the boundary change, which permit to purchase, or reporting process please contact the Assistant Migratory Game Bird Ecologist Taylor Finger, Email: taylor.finger@wisconsin.gov   Phone: (608) 261-6458 or Contact the WI DNR Call Center which is available 7 days a week, 7am-10pm, Toll free 1-888-WDNRINFo (1-888-936-7463).
