It's almost pheasant season - get scouting this weekend!
Statewide season begins Oct. 19 at 9 a.m.
With the pheasant season fast approaching, now is a good time to get out in the field and do some scouting.
Morning is one of the best times to scout, with many birds active during this time. Watch and listen for pheasant signs around you and find that perfect spot. Hunters should look for areas that contain interspersed grassland, agriculture, and winter cover (e.g., cattail marshes or dense brush). The best wild pheasant populations are scattered throughout southern and western Wisconsin.
All hunters wishing to pursue pheasants must purchase a small game hunting license and a Pheasant Stamp, which generates funding for pheasant habitat management. You can purchase your stamp and license here.
