Friends of Poynette Game Farm to host Learn to Hunt Pheasant Programs

POYNETTE - The Friends of the Poynette Game Farm will be hosting free Learn
to Hunt pheasant programs at the MacKenzie Education Center (Poynette, WI),
Richard Bong Recreation Area (Kansasville, WI), and Wern Valley Sportsman's
Club (Waukesha, WI) this fall. Each two-day program will focus on the basics
of pheasant hunting in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.

Free programs include classroom instruction, dog training demonstrations,
trap shooting, Poynette Game Farm tours, and a mentored pheasant hunt.
Overnight lodging is provided at MacKenzie Center dormitories.

Dates and target audiences for the MacKenzie Center pheasant programs
include:

 *   Sept. 6-7 - open to females with no pheasant hunting experience;

 *   Sept. 13-14 - open to any individual with no pheasant hunting
experience; parents or legal guardians are encouraged to participate;


 *   Sept. 20-21 - open to individuals 18 years or older with no pheasant
hunting experience (bring a friend!); and


 *   Dec. 6-7 - open to any individual with no pheasant hunting experience;
parents or legal guardians are encouraged.

 Dates and target audiences for the Richard Bong Recreation Area pheasant
programs include:

 *   Oct. 10-11 - open to any individual with no pheasant hunting
experience. Parents or legal guardians are encouraged to participate).

Dates and target audiences for the Wern Valley Sportsman's Club pheasant
programs include:

 *   Dec. 12-13 - open to any individual with no pheasant hunting
experience. Parents or legal guardians are encouraged to participate.

In 2014, over 70,000 pheasants from the Poynette Game Farm will be released
on over 90 public hunting grounds. The FPGF is a non-profit organization
dedicated to providing pheasant hunting opportunities and promoting
Wisconsin's strong upland bird hunting tradition.

In addition to support for the pheasant stocking program, FPGF promotes
pheasant and small game hunting as a family activity.  FPGF organizers are
very passionate about their time spent hunting with family and friends.  "We
have many fond memories of hunting trips and want new hunters to make
memories of their own," said FPGF president Vic Connors.

The Learn to Hunt program at Richard Bong Recreation Area works in
partnership with the Burlington Conservation Club.

Programs are limited to 30 participants and applications must be mailed at
least 14 days before the scheduled event to:
