First Bird for Norwegian Hunter
After several unsuccessful Wisconsin hunts targeting turkeys, Norway native Arnold Hidle took his first Jake while hunting Adams County. Arnold still hunts reindeer in Norway just about every year and whitetails and pheasants here with friends.
In 2015, he hunted very hard and had a few run ins with henned-up Toms for two days straight but couldn't get the gobblers to commit. Eventually three jakes came in and he picked out the nicest one for his first. He passed on a jake on day one and bearded hen a few hours before he took this jake.
The bird weighed 17 pounds and sported a 4.5 inch beard.
Arnold was very excited to fill the tag.
