Wisconsin hunters took just three days to harvest 216 wolves during the February hunt, reinforcing the belief of thousands of Wisconsin sportsmen that the official stated population of 1195 wolves is significantly below the actual count. Bear hound killed in Bayfield County
A four-mile caution area has been created around the August 5 depredation site of a bear hound. On August 7, Wildlife Services confirmed that wolves depredated the hound that was involved in bear training activities. A map and other details are found on the DNR's dog depredation webpage or go to dnr.wi.gov and search "wolf management".
