Turtle Flambeau Outdoor Report 9-17-2012
By Professional Guide Jerry Jerkbait Hartigan
I did not fish yesterday due to a rain out, but the day before I fished the Flowage and tried all the patterns that had been working in the past week with little to show except a few small walleye.
Toward the end of the day we moved into shallow wood and found it loaded with big perch and lots of eater walleye. Bait Rigs Weedmaster jigs or slowfalls tipped with a fathead minnow seemed to work the best, but we also did get fish on crawlers. One nice musky fell to a walleye presentation on 6-pound test line. See photo.
High pressure and much cooler temps should change the pattern, usually for the best so we will see what happens.
Still no bear for my son, but the cooler temps should help that. Right now we only have giant bears coming at night, but it only takes one to make a mistake.
