Turtle Flambeau Fishing Report10-03-12
By Professional Guide Jerry Hartigan
So far this week the walleye bite on the Flowage has been really good. The fish are in their fall patterns and have moved into deeper water. As I said in my last report, the bigger fish seemed to be a little shallower in around 16 feet.
Today I went out with very high expectations; a big cold front forecast to move in within a couple of days and seeing lots of deer, grouse, and turkeys feeding on the way to the boat launch. As it turned out we did not have the day I was expecting. We managed to find some fish with only four keepers, but they were very spread out with no spots holding more than a few fish.
Most of the walleye were found in 15 to 20 feet along with some perch. I only had a half day so I did not get to search very far for fish. I was also out half the night last night tracking a deer my brother shot with his bow so that was my excuse for not having a good day.
Luckily my wife Christa was with helping because she found the deer with no blood trail by figuring out which way the deer was most likely to go after it was hit. I will let you know how the rest of the week goes.
