Turtle Flambeau Flowage Fishing Report 10-01-12
By Professional Guide Jerry Hartigan
The last few days have brought beautiful weather and really active walleyes. On the Flowage the walleyes have moved into the river channels and deep drop-offs.
I caught fish anywhere from 10 feet to around 22 feet. But the bigger fish seemed to be in 14 to 16 foot river channels near drop-offs.
1/8th oz. Bait Rigs weedless jigs were working the best, but we also did some vertical jigging with regular jigs. We also got one northern that was close to 30 inches, which is big for the flowage and a few crappie and perch.
There is a big change in the weather coming this weekend and the cold temps should just make the fishing better.
