Sturgeon spawning assessment synopsis

Dear Winnebago Sturgeon Enthusiasts:

Our busy spring field season has wound down and my staff and I have now had a chance to catch our breath and process some of the data we collected this spring.  As a result, I have drafted a synopsis outlining the results of our sturgeon spawning assessments.  In a nutshell: the spawning run was very short, but intense, with a distinct 2nd run of spawning taking place about a week and a half ago.  We also continue to see many very large fish within the population, in fact we handled 39 fish over 70” in just 4 days!  I plan to send out more reports and updates once they become available.

I hope you all get a chance to get out there and take advantage of the great fisheries resources that the Winnebago System has to offer!
