Black, minority Trump supporters censored by Gannett, other media at 2020 RNC Convention. Expect the same as Milwaukee hosts 2024 RNC Convention. Look back four years Wisconsin, to compare and contrast Gannett’s corrupt coverage of the 2020 Republican and Democratic National Conventions to know what to expect July 15-18 when the nation’s eyes rest on Milwaukee, home of the 2024 RNC convention.  The DNC will showcase its conventi...

Rice Lake Fishing Report 8-7-12

Rice Lake

By Frank Zumpf

It’s August already.  Summer has been going by so fast.  It seems like we had the “dog days” of summer in July.  With school starting before you know it, I’m thinking that if you know any kids who haven’t been out fishing, now is the time to take them out.  If you’ve already taken them out, it’s time to get in a few more trips before the busy schedules of school time cut into fishing time.  After all, if you don’t take the young folks out fishing, who will take you out when you get old?

I was driving up Main Street in Rice Lake the other night around 9 p.m. and there were people fishing off the bridge, under the bridge and off the railroad bridge.  It seems that people are beating the heat by fishing late.  All the lights should help the night fishing.  They draw out the plankton and minnows which attract the crappies which draw out the muskies.

The walleyes remain slow, with most of the fish being caught on Red Cedar found on the humps.  There are still plenty of opportunities to catch a good mess of panfish for a fish fry.

I know there have been a lot of bass tournaments on Rice Lake and surrounding lakes, but remember that EVERYONE has the right to the lake.  To quote Ted Williams, the former baseball great who moved on to become a fishing expert, “I object to fishing tournaments less for what they do to fish than what they do to fishermen.”
