Price County Fishing Report 7-29-13

Even with the major cold front moving thru early over the weekend fishing continued to be good for Walleye, Crappie and Panfish. They didn't bite as hard but they could be caught. Friday I had a cancelation because of the weather forecast so I woke my 6 year old up at 5 am and we hit the water. I gave him a limit of 12 fish witch he filled easily bringing home a nice stringer of Crappie, Perch, Gills and 1 Walleye.

The next day clients Tom and Karen braved the 42 degree misty morning to try and catch a fish fry for family that they were visiting, because they needed to keep some fish I took them to an area lake that has an abundant walleye population with no size limit. They quickly filled the live well with 13 to 15.5 inch walleye and added some big Crappie and Perch to the mix as well. It was a big relief when the first float went under, I even had my doubts with the extreme weather that we were experiencing.

We are finding most of the fish in 6 to 12 feet of water with the Crappie a little deeper. For the Walleye we are using Floating Lindy Rigs or a Slip Float tipped with a Fathead or Leech. We are catching Crappie on Plastics or on Slip Floats with a small fathead minnow. If you have kids in the boat just hang a chunk of crawler over the side of the boat on the bottom and tell them to hold on. We are picking up a lot of smaller Gills and some Perch this way. Most of them are too small to clean but when it comes to kids its more quantity then quality and just trying to keep them busy.
