Price County Fishing Report 5-28-13
Great fishing weather and great fishing went hand in hand over the Memorial Day weekend!!!!
Ross's Sport Shop customers were reporting great Crappie action on most area lakes, Crappie are in the shallow wood and are being taken on white plastics pulled along under a float or on jig and minnow under a float. Fish are holding tight to cover so get close to that brush. Gills are also doing well with wax worms being the top sell in the store this week.
Walleye action is good as well, customers are reporting catching 60 or more walleye over the weekend, there still are a lot of 10 to 14 inch fish but more and more people are saying that they are getting 16 to 18 inchers. The walleye are fairly shallow yet, rattling stick baits are doing well for the fishermen that like to cast, for the jig fishermen try throwing a weedless Slo-Poke jig into fallen timber along the shoreline tipped with a leech and you should have some great action. Smallmouth Bass are also in the same areas as the Walleye now and are a great bonus catch.
Musky action started out slow for the opener, Reports of following fish and some smaller fish are coming into the store. Smaller baits were key with small Bucktails, Glide Baits, and Twitch baits getting action. I had 8 year old Client Zach out on Sunday, Zach boated a 35.5 inch Musky, his biggest fish ever and first musky! Congrats Zach!
