Mercer - Wisconsin's Favorite Outdoor Playground
by Tina Brunell, Mercer Area Chamber of Commerce
One trip will get you “hooked” on Mercer with over 214 lakes in a 30 mile radius – including the 14,000 acre Turtle Flambeau Flowage- you are sure to have a different adventure each time. Mercer is located in Iron County in the "very north" woods of Wisconsin.
January 12, 2012 - This Week On The Ice: The walleyes are biting well between 3:30 and 4:00PM, mainly on the TFF, in anywhere between 4 & 12 ft. depths. Bluegills and Northern are hot too, just about any time of the day. Walleye are biting on golden shiners & panfish are biting best on crappie minnows and wax worms, according to Turtle River Trading Bait & Tackle shop in Mercer WI.
The snowmobile & cross country ski trails are faring quite nicely too. The area was graced with a foot of fresh white snow this past week, holding true to our title as the “Snow Capital”.
