Lake Geneva 4/8/12 through 4/15/12
By Dave Duwe
Although the spring has been a nice one, we’ve had some cool nights and that is keeping the water temperatures from warming the way we like in spring. The most consistent bites remain in the Abbey Harbor or in Trinkes Harbor. If you are going to fish the main lake, Knollwood and Belvidere Park have been producing perch.
Perch are being caught on slip bobbers with fat head minnows. Work a depth of 6-8 ft of water. You want to look for scattered grass patches for the best success. This is the only time of year that I will anchor almost exclusively while fishing the slip bobbers.
The bluegills and crappies have been in the Abbey Harbor and Trinkes Harbor. Small ice jigs tipped with wax worms are catching most of the fish. The water depth is about 3-4 ft. The best bite remains in the early morning or right at dusk.
Good luck and I hope to see you on the water. For guide parties, please call Dave Duwe at 608-883-2050
