ice fishing ice fishing Wisconsin
Zorin and the boys form Flapjack Productions doing an ice fishing TV show with us. All set up and ready to fish
ice fishing ice fishing catch
The boys from Integrity Excavating with a good days catch. Some of our catch with the boys from Integrity Excavating.

Good walleye bite for anglers willing to stick it out after dark.  Large golden shiners and sucker minnows run on tip-ups in shallow backwater areas off the main river have been producing some nice fish for us. Most of our action is coming well after dark and in less than 6 feet of water.

Hooksetters guide John Sparbel snagged this crappie while checking the depth J.P. with his first crappie through the ice.

The northern pike action has been very good with nice catches of pike up to and over 30+ inches. Most of our fish are coming on tip-ups baited with large golden shiners or sucker minnows. We are setting our tip-ups in 4 to 10 feet of water along the sharpest breaking contour lines we can find. If you can pinpoint the quickest drop to deep water in the area you will have located a key target location for holding not only size but numbers of pike.

ice fishing breakfast ice fishing dinner
John cooked French toast for the guys for breakfast on the ice. Really roughing it! John preparing steaks for dinner on the ice.
ice fishing dinner ice fishing crappies
Having steaks for dinner in the ice shack, it doesn't get any better than this. Bill and J.P with a couple of the crappies they caught while ice fishing with us.

The bite for panfish has been very good and on most days our guides are coming in with mixed bags of perch, crappies and gills.  Most of our action is coming from 10 to14 feet of water over mud flats. We are using Northland tungsten fireball jigs in orange or yellow and tipping them with the Impulse Mayfly or Tapeworm.  The key to not only getting numbers but nice fish as well is to drill a lot of holes and don't be afraid to do a lot of moving or hole hopping.

Have a great week,
