Now it starts.  Too much to keep up with in Wisconsin, and that is one nice problem for an outdoorsman. OWO Columnist Wayne Morgenthaler and his son Neal spelled double trouble for two Richland County gobblers after four days of not filling tags. We put the May-June issue of On Wisconsin Outdoors to bed last week with 100,000 copies being distributed statewide. Look for your copy at any Kwik Trip statewide…that’s 400 stores ...

The Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce Report

The local anglers have been catching some nice sized Northern’s at the Hot Pond. Fishing right off the docks has been good and the Smallies are biting all the time!!!Panfish have been plentiful on the inland waters. If you are coming into the Chequamegon Bay Area for the many upcoming events, take time to call the local fishing guides and give your hand a try at fishing on the Greatest of the Great Lakes; Lake Superior!!! For more information on fishing in Ashland County or for an updated weather report, check out www.visitashland.com or call 800-284-9484.

Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter at Anglers All Bait Shop says the water still is murky and clay like at this time. We need the water to clear. The fish are there just waiting for the bait!!!. It looks like the Small Mouth Bass fishermen are still in heaven with Bass Fishing!!!. Roger likes to fish for Smallies using a 5inch Grub. Along the Shoreline the Northern fishing has been very good. There have been reports of some Trout and Salmon in the Bay by the Breakwater. A lot of panfish have been caught at the Marina Breakwall. Sunrise is the best time for catching fish in the shallow waters. Anglers have been mainly fishing for Trout and Salmon on the outside of the Bay, starting around the old Coast Guard dock and working all the way out to the Islands. The Walleyes are biting at the head of the Bay and Brush Point. Anglers are using crawler harnesses and stickbaits and also coasting along the shoreline with stickbaits. Roger has been busy with many anglers wanting to be guided out on the Bay as they check out all the fishing hotspots! You can reach Roger at 715-682-5754.

Fishing Guide Jim Hudson is reporting the Small Mouth Bass are biting like crazy right now. Fishing is really good now and Jim predicts a really good summer for fishing. The water is still clay-like in color and It won't change right now due to the recent rain. As soon as the rain quits the water will most likely start clear up. To reach Jim Hudson call: HUDSON'S ON THE SPOT FISHING ADVENTURES: (715)779-5833 OR (715)209-6431.
