Richland County ice fishing report 1/20/15
Shane Pepich with a 30 inch northern pike.
By Wayne Morgenthaler
The weather is just right for getting outside and the ice is 12 inches thick in most places. The backwaters of the Wisconsin have been receiving a lot of fishermen between Lone Rock and Blue River.
The fishing has slowed down on most of the sloughs. The best action for panfish seems to be more in the middle of the day. Panfish are biting on red worms and wax worms fished with any type of green jig. Most of the bites are within a foot of the bottom and on the weed edges.
Tip up fishing has also been good with largemouth bass hitting good on shiners fished about 3 feet below the ice. If you need good information on the best places, stop in at Lone Rock, Richland Center, or Muscoda at the bait shops.
