Richland County Fishing Report

On Wisconsin Outdoors

On Wisconsin Outdoors

The snow is gone for now, but I am sure we might get a little more.  The water level is very low in the streams and lakes.  Trout fishing is catch and release for a while.  With the water being low, the best fishing is on small streams during the day.  The big three streams for Richland County are Mill Creek, Pine River, and Willow Creek.  If you are in to spin casting, the fish are active now with Panther Martins being choice of baits with ultra-light tackle.  On small streams I like gold or silver.  When fishing the big three I like the number 3 green and yellow Panther Martin.  The backwaters along the Wisconsin are slow as the waters warm up, but will be improving in a couple of weeks. The walleye fishing on the river is unpredictable but your best action is where small streams flow into the river.  This is a great time to view waterfowl and birds migrating back.  Don’t forget to stop in at the bait shops in Muscoda, Richland Center, and Lone Rock.
