Price County Fishing Report

The 2013 open water season is winding down and there may only be a few weeks left to get out on area waters. Water Temps are hanging in the 38 to 44 degree range depending on what body of water your on. Fall fishing hasn't been a disappointment as most anglers are reporting good catches.

The Walleye action has really picked up and some of the biggest fish of the season are being caught. Consistent catches of fish up to 18" are being reported to the shop with a lot of small fish still being caught. We have also had some reports of fish pushing the 30" mark. Most of the Walleye are being found in the deeper areas of the lake on the bottom of sharp drop offs. Depending on the body of water your fishing you should be looking for 10 to 30 feet of water.

Crappie action continues to be good, Crappie are scattered but the bigger fish seem to be in the deeper areas of the lake. They are picking some smaller fish around the cribs. Plastics or live bait are still consistent producers with a slow presentation.

Musky action is still good, Not a lot of big fish yet but some good action, On a trip with Clients Thursday we put 4 fish in my boat from 35" to 43" and had 2 other fish that were hooked and lost. Big Minnow style baits, Suicks, Medusa's and Super D's  in perch and sucker patterns are working well along with live suckers on a quick strike rig.

Pictured is Dave Carlson of Ross's Sport Shop with some of his catch from Saturday ad my Client Dave with a 43 in musky that he released, one of 4 that Dave and his brother Steve boated on their trip with me Thursday.
