Price County Fishing Report
Musky and Crappie are talk of the store right now and both bites are heating up with the falling water temps! Water temps are between 42 and 49 degrees on most area lakes and water levels are good in the rivers. There is a drawdown on Musser Flowage of 6' that makes fishing the lake nearly impossible. There is also an emergency drawdown on the Phillips Chain, The "Chain" is down about 2 feet, you can still put in at the landings but getting around between the lakes is a little challenging with a large boat. Be careful as major damage to transducers and lower units have been reported from anglers that ventured out on the "Chain" over the weekend. Most of the Crappie population had moved to the deeper basins on most area lakes and are being caught on anything from plastics to minnows. White, Orange, or Chartreuse are the colors that anglers are talking about. You can fish a little larger bait this time of year for Crappie and Walleye anglers are catching some of the nicer Crappie on 1/8 oz jigs and 3 inch twister tails right on the bottom. The Walleye bite has been good but mostly small fish are being reported yet. Musky are still scattered shallow and deep with most of the fish being caught on suckers now. Ross's Sport Shop Guide boats did catch some nice Musky on Suick, Medusa , and Bulldawg style lures the last few outings.
