Price County Fishing Report

The Musky Sucker bite is on!!! Ross's Sport Shop guides and customers have been reporting a great sucker bite for Musky that should just get better as the water temps drop. We have been using suckers from 11 to 14 inches right now. My rig of choice is the Fuzzy Clip and Go witch quickly attaches to the sucker but breaks away from it easily upon hook set. Remember that it's a state law that you have to use a Circle hook rig or a Quick Set rig when using live bait 8 inches and larger. One tip on the Quick Set is to make sure that the fish is moving away from you when you set the hook. We have also been doing well on Bucktails and Jerkbaits like Phantom's and Suick. I like to use more natural colors this time of year but I still also like them to have a touch of orange or chartreuse in them as well because of our darker water color.

The walleye bite picked back up a little, but we are still getting a lot of smaller fish. They are scattered between shallow and deep with a jig and Fathead being the meal of choice. We have been picking up some bonus perch again on crawlers and small jigs. The Crappie bite continues to be good, Crappie are still scattered over the deeper areas of the lakes, plastics and minnows have been working well. Some people are using crappie rigs with more then one hook on. Just remember that when you put more then one bait or lure on your line that you must count each lure as a line and in Wisconsin there is a 3 line limit.
