Price County Fishing Report
One of the 41.5" fish that John Carlson caught to win the Long Lake night of league |
From the first week of June to the end of August the Flambeau Musky League met on a different area lake every Monday thru the summer. Each week an average of 14 boats fished for a small prize and bragging rights for the week and for the whole season. Big fish for the League season went to Phil Markgraf and Randy Kauranen with a 44.5 inch Musky that they caught out of the Pike Lake Chain. The team with the most total inches for the season went to John and Dawn Carlson. On Saturday Sept 7th the league held its end of the year fun day on Lake of the Pines and Connors Lake, To keep fishing pressure down on the lakes we split the field up into 2 groups, one group started at Lake of the Pines and the other on Connors Lake. After 4 hours of fishing the fishermen pulled their boats and stopped for a great lunch provided by the staff at Red's Big Bear. The groups then switched lakes and fished for another 4 hours. Then we met at Flambeau Forrest Inn where the owners put out some great tasting snacks for the hungry fishermen. In the end the team of Gene Bolton and Dick Lockman took the top spot with a 42.75" fish, Chris and Ashley Sinnott had the 2nd place fish of 39 inches. Jason Baratka and Jason Weik caught a 36.75" fish for 3rd place bragging rights and Dean Plein and Keith McCormick had a 34.5 incher for fourth place. Thanks to all of the Taverns that hosted us after our fishing nights and to all of the fishermen that made this league fun to fish.
