Price County Fishing Report

What an awesome Labor Day Weekend!!!!

The temps were nice and rain stayed away from the Phillips Area for most of the weekend. The major rain earlier in the week dropped the water temps back into the lower 70, closer to where it should be for the first week of September.
This week I had more Walleye trips, we didn't get a lot of keeper sized fish but the action was great. We did manage to get a few walleye in the 15 to 16 inch range to bring home. Two of my trips were with kids and the action was good enough to keep them wanting to stay out after 4+ hours on the water. The bite seems to be switching to mostly minnows. We had leeches out with no takers. We did get a number of Walleye on crawlers but mostly caught Bluegill and Perch. Most of the fish are still hanging in the 10 to 15 foot of water range, we did get a few deeper.

Crappie action continues to be good, They are scattered all over the lake right now so you have to do some searching. When I have Clients we have been slip bobbering them with fathead minnows. I have also been doing well using plastics and gulp.

The musky fishing is getting really hot, We did get a shipment of suckers in and customers have been using them with success. I am still having good success on the surface and with large bucktails like the Esox Assault E-9's and E-10's. Saturday morning while waiting for a group of clients to come down on the dock a fat 42.5 inch Musky decided to make breakfast of my Lake X Lure Dr. Evil. She was photographed with me and released for another lucky angler to hook into at a later date.
