Price County Fishing Report 6/18/14
There has been a bit of a mayfly hatch going on witch is screwing up fishing a little. The bigger Gills and Walleye have been a little tight lipped but with a little work they can be caught.
Smallmouth Bass are on the beds and hitting hard on most area lakes. We have been getting most of our smallies on larger lures while Musky fishing but I have also caught them on Tubes, Jigs and Craw trailers and live bait while targeting them.
The walleye bit is off a little but we have still been getting fish on crawlers fishing lightly. A Light action St Croix Avid and a Shimano Reel spooled with 6lb Trilene rigged with a 1/16 to 1/8 ounce lindy rig is working well in my boat. Look for the Walleye to be in 8 to 15 feet of water and in soft bottom areas.
The bigger Bluegill have slid off into deeper water and are being found in some of the same areas as Walleye. A small Lindy Rig setup or a Slip Bobber Rig are working well for gills.
Catfish are starting to hit well but the high water is making it tough to fish for them. Customers are reporting Cats to be hitting a verity of baits like Crawlers, Cut Bait, Live Minnows and Chicken Livers.
Musky action has been well for Ross's Sport Shop Guides, We are still having luck on down sized lures like Rizzo Wizz's, Mepps and 6" Phantoms. We're also starting to move some fish on surface lures like LakeXLures Dr. Evils and Best American Tackle's Tornado. We are finding Musky shallow yet around fallen timber and new weed growth.

Good Luck on the water.
Pictured is me with a nice Smallmouth that ate a Rizzo Wizz while I was musky fishing.

“The goodness of a person and of the society he or she lives in often comes down to very simple things and words found in the Scout Law. Every society depends on trust and loyalty, on courtesy and kindness, on bravery and reverence. These are the values of Scouting, and these are the values of Americans.” -President George W. Bush
