More Fishing Updates from Price County
The extreme cold conditions have brought mix results to our area anglers. When fishing this past week the afternoon into late evening provided the best walleye activity. Smaller size minnows saw the most activity. Jigging off of gravel bars in 8- 14ft of water. Pike activity was spotty with fish taken on larger shiners on tip-ups in 3-6 ft. of water. Fish were relating to weed edges.
We had some crappie activity on the shallow bowl shaped lakes. Fish were suspended fairly high in the water column. We found fish in the 8-15 range over 20 ft. of water. Anglers should use caution in this extreme cold not to expose skin for any period of time. Frostbite can occur in a few minutes. When you’re out it is wise to bring along some hand warmers to create some heat. Always bring some fluids to stay hydrated but stay away from alcohol or caffeine. Good Luck Fishing.
