Minoqua Area Fishing Report
We’ve got “some” fishable ice, not a lot (2-3” at best) and caution is very important as snow on Sunday is going to make it difficult to see where the good ice is versus the bad.
SPUD BARS and ICE PICKS are NECESSARY
Saturday morning early was still too early for most. By late morning anglers were finding the single digit weather building some ice, mostly south and southwest bays that had been protected by the strong winds of late week were providing walkable ice.
Reports were good for Northern Pike. Some anglers are finding some success for yellow perch, crappies and bluegills, all relatively shallow in 3 – 6’ under 2 – 3” of ice.
The cold and snow will hinder early week fishing. Night time lows below 0 degrees (-7 to -10 degrees midweek) should build ice below this light, fluffy snow. Winds Wednesday could clear off some lakes.
Check conditions daily and use caution.
