Fishing in Richland County is excellent now
I fished the backwaters of the Wisconsin River near Lone Rock and found good action. Northern Pike and Largemouth Bass were hitting on top water baits in the openings of lily pads. Just before dark the bluegills and crappies picked up the action with white and pink plastic tubes. The bug population is way down due to the cool evenings and mornings. The trout fishing has switched around because of the streams finally starting to clear up. The Pine, Willow, and Mill creek are the bigger streams and the best bite is early in the morning. The smaller streams provide good action all day long. There is a nice bait shop in the middle of Richland Center that will give you plenty of good tips. The business is called the Huntin Shack and is located at 208 South Church Street in Richland Center. Store hours are 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and Saturday from 8 am to 3 pm. The phone number is 608-647-0056.
