Dave Duwe Lake Geneva Report 9/22/14 through 9/29/14

Overall the fishing on Lake Geneva has been difficult.  The typical patterns on the lake are not available which makes the fish very scattered and hard to catch.  When you do get on the game fish, they are typically less than 15 inches.

The smallmouth bass are in 15-22 ft of water.  They can be caught on lindy rigged nightcrawlers or small lindy rigged suckers.  The best location is by Gage Marine or just off the main lake points such as; Black Point, Conference Point or Cedar Point.

The bluegill fishing has been very good.  Most of the fish are being caught on split shot rigged leaf worms.  The best location has been by Gage Marine, Elgin Club or by the old Military Academy.   The larger fish are located within 1 foot of bottom, you want to fish them vertically beneath the boat.  The fish are visible on you depth finder so you want to make sure you fish active schools.

Walleyes are biting at night in 15-17 ft of water.  They can be caught in Trinkes or Williams Bay.  You want to troll large Rapala’s approximately 170 ft back.  The best color for the Rapala’s is chrome/blue or gold/black.  Troll them at 1.5-1.7 mph.

Largemouth bass fishing has been below average.  The best bite has been in 10-12  ft of water.  Look for the fish in Williams Bay, Geneva Bay or Trinkes Bay.  Drop shotting green pumpkin or root beer colored worms has been producing the most action.

Good luck and I hope to see you on the water.  For guide parties, please call Dave Duwe at 608-883-2050
