Central Wisconsin Outdoor Report
It has been another outstanding week in central Wisconsin for outdoor activities. The fishing continues to get better and better with outstanding catches of walleyes, crappies and bass along with some nice muskies. Hunters are having success with deer, bears and waterfowl.
The cooler temperatures that we have been experiencing this past week have really turned-up the feedbag for fish in our local waters. Action has been very consistent with a lot of fish now holding in their wintering locations. Most of these locations are deeper portions of the river and non-current areas along with break lines and points off of main lake flats. Look for these areas to be running anywhere from 8 to 16 feet deep and in some instances even deeper if water exists.
Hunters are also taking advantage of the cooler weather. Cooler weather means more birds flying down from northern locations and increased activity from deer and bears they prepare for the upcoming winter. We still have active bear stations going strong and now with the recent cold spell the bears are becoming more predictable and hitting the baits more actively. Deer hunters should still concentrate their efforts on transition areas between bedding and feeding locations right now. As we get close to the rut you will see a definite increase in activity and these locations will become hot-spots for action.
