Central Wisconsin Outdoor Report 11/30/14

We had a slow start to the beginning of the 2014 gun deer season, but we did get off to a great start to our  ice fishing season with some phenomenal catches being made.

Opening weekend starting off foggy and with high temperatures, deer movement was not only slower than normal but hunters visibility was drastically impeded.  With the fog in the area visibility was at a minimum for most hunters, and with slower than normal movement the deer kills for the start of the 2014 gun deer season was down about 20% according to local DNR representatives.

Ice fishing in the area has started off booming, and now with 5 to 8 inches of good ice on most bodies of water anglers are getting out and enjoying some of the finest early season ice fishing we have had in years.  Local lakes and reservoirs are producing good numbers of crappies and bluegills as well as some nice northern pike and walleyes.

Have a great week!
