Black, minority Trump supporters censored by Gannett, other media at 2020 RNC Convention. Expect the same as Milwaukee hosts 2024 RNC Convention. Look back four years Wisconsin, to compare and contrast Gannett’s corrupt coverage of the 2020 Republican and Democratic National Conventions to know what to expect July 15-18 when the nation’s eyes rest on Milwaukee, home of the 2024 RNC convention.  The DNC will showcase its conventi...

It has been another great week of fishing on the Central Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers. In addition where many lakes up north have restrictions on walleye bag limits,  we are still seeing a 5 fish daily limit on the Wisconsin River and its impoundments.

We have been catching lots of great eating walleyes in the 15 to 20 inch range with a few nice slot fish in the mid to upper 20 inch range. Most of the walleyes are on jig and minnow but a few have been taking plastics.

Action for bass has been very good with a lot of fish now taking top water baits and spinnerbaits worked near the surface near shoreline structure and through thick weeds.  Along with the bass we are catching quite a few northern pike that are taking this same presentation, even a musky or two.

Speaking of muskies, the action this past week has been dynamite. The weather patterns that have been coming through have made for ideal conditions to target muskies.  We caught quite a few nice fish on bucktails,  jerkbaits and topwater baits working shallow structure and weedy areas.

Panfish have been very cooperative this past week with nice catches of both crappies and bluegills.. Shallow structure in 3 to 6 feet of water has been key for targeting the panfish.

In addition to the many game fish we are also catching a surprising number of white bass and catfish.  Now this is not normally a targeted species, but they sure make for a lot of fun when they are on the line. These are a never-give-up type of fish that will not only test your tackle but they give you plenty of action when you find them.

Have a great week,

Phil Schweik
