Black, minority Trump supporters censored by Gannett, other media at 2020 RNC Convention. Expect the same as Milwaukee hosts 2024 RNC Convention. Look back four years Wisconsin, to compare and contrast Gannett’s corrupt coverage of the 2020 Republican and Democratic National Conventions to know what to expect July 15-18 when the nation’s eyes rest on Milwaukee, home of the 2024 RNC convention.  The DNC will showcase its conventi...

Central Wisconsin Outdoor Report

On Wisconsin Outdoors

Ice conditions in Central Wisconsin range from 7 to 16 inches depending on the body of water you are fishing.  With flowages and the river system you can never be too cautious when it comes to ice conditions.

The action has been very good that past few weeks here in Central Wisconsin. We are mainly targeting walleyes, pike and panfish, and the bite has been fantastic for both numbers and size.  We are catching big perch in the 10 to 12 inch range, crappies pushing that 14 and 15 inch mark and big bluegills that are topping out over 10 inches long.

The walleye bite has remained steady with some really good catches coming during daylight hours with even better action after dark. A lot of the walleyes are being caught on tip-ups baited with golden shiners or medium suckers, but we are also catching a few by jigging with Northland buckshot spoons in the deeper water during daylight hours.

Northern pike continue to be active and aggressive with numbers of fish being caught on our outings. Most of the action is coming off of tip-ups baited with large golden shiners set along weed edges in 4 to 8 feet of water.

If you are looking for panfish, a lot of our action is in about 10 feet of water associated with wood structure. The panfish hide in the wood (downed timber, brush and stumps) to evade predators, but they can be caught by dropping you presentation into precise locations in the structure.  Here is where your electronics really pay off in a big way.

Stay up to date by following us here and on our Facebook pages and will continue to bring you updated reports as the season progresses.
