Ashland County Fishing Report
Scott Bretting from River Rock Inn and Bait Shop reports: There was a lot of fun last weekend during the opening for Wisconsin fishing. It was a cool weekend but anglers had a lot of success catching fish on the Inland Lakes. Even the Governor of Wisconsin caught fish in the Cable area. Walleye, Small Mouth Bass, Northern Pike were some of the fish caught. Crawlers, Minnows and Leeches were some of the baits used. The Crappie bite has been more active as the waters are getting warmer. We are still in pre-spawn and the fish are active and feeding well.
With the cooler and dirtier water…its tougher fishing but there still has been some success! With calmer and warmer weather, fishing will only get better and better!
There have been some anglers out trolling in the Islands and doing very well fishing the mud lines and temperature changes and catching Browns, Salmon and Lake Trout.
Check regulations when Walleye fishing on inland lakes in the ceded territories as the limits vary from lake to lake.
