Ashland Area Fishing Report
~ Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter from Anglers All, (715)-682-5754, http://www.anglersallwisconsin.com Reports: The Bite is really good right now for Salmon. People are still catching Trout and Salmon near the River Mouths. There are more fish in the Streams right now, due to the rains of last weekend. Salmon are in the Bay and in the Rivers. The fishing continues to be good on Inland Lakes with Crappies and all Pan Fish biting. Muskies are starting to bite in the Inlands. Bass are biting in deeper water on Sucker Minnows during daytime hours. Early morning and late afternoon into the evening. Walleye Anglers are doing well drifting Crawler Harnesses and Stickbaits over the weedbeds. Activity has been best early in the morning and in the evening. Trolling has been crazy good!!!! Trout and Salmon fishing has been great with the best catches in 20 to 30 feet of Water from Washburn to Houghton Point, out to the Sioux and Onion and over to Long Island... Best fishing has been during low light hours. Trout and Salmon have been caught at the head of the Bay, off the mouth of Fish Creek. There have been good reports on trout and Coho’s and Browns. There have also been reports of a good White Fish Bite going on! Trolling for Lake Trout has also been super!!! Autumn is a beautiful time of year to fish in the Chequamegon Bay Area!!!

Coho Salmon, Brown Trout and King Salmon are now staging outside of the River and Creek mouths as they prepare for the annual run up Streams to spawn. Anglers have been having excellent success this past week trolling Stickbaits and Shad Raps off of Houghton Point and in front of the Sioux and Onion River. Shore fisherman at the mouths of Rivers and Streams have also been picking up some nice Browns and Coho Salmon casting Spoons, Mepps Spinners and Stickbaits.
Stream fisherman have been doing very well on most Rivers this past week fishing Crawlers, Spinners and Spawn for Coho Salmon, Browns and an occasional King Salmon. There has been a high number of Steelheads being caught also as they follow the Browns and Coho Salmon upstream. An occasional Coaster Brook Trout can also be found in Streams at this time. The minimum length on Coaster Brook Trout caught in Lake Superior is 20". Fishing regulations and boundaries on Streams and Rivers changed September 30, refer to your DNR regulations before venturing out. Lake Trout fishing also closed on September 30.
