Ashland Area Fishing Report for Sept. 8, 2014

~ Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter and wife Carolyn from Anglers All, 715/682-5754 (http://www.anglersallwisconsin.com), report the following:

This report is about the Ashland side of Chequamegon Bay. Smallmouth bass were the main target for anglers this week with people having good luck near the rock pile and back into the breakwall.

Trollers have reported good numbers of lake trout, especially in the flats and out by the Apostle Islands, but not too many brown trout or salmon yet. It won't be too much longer before these fish really start showing up, especially with some more offshore wind and cooler temps.

Shallow-water fishing picks up, inland and on Lake Superior, as the water cools and fish are more active during the day. Although the smallies will stay out in the deep water, the cool fall weather will be a boon to trout and salmon fishermen, noted Roger LaPenter.

“The shore fishing is holding its own right now, but with a little less rain and clearer water things will get even better,” he said.

For the most complete and up-to-date fishing report, just give us a call at Anglers All and we will keep you informed!
