Ashland Area Fishing Report for March 19, 2015

~ Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter and wife Carolyn Swartz from Anglers All715/682-5754 (http://www.anglersallwisconsin.com), report the following:

This report is about the Ashland side of Chequamegon Bay. Although it is definitely getting toward the end of the ice fishing season, people are still traveling out on the bay from certain landings and catching fish. ATVs are the recommended form of travel at this point and flotation devices are a must.

As always, conditions can change rapidly on Lake Superior.  For your own safety and especially if you are unfamiliar with the area you will be fishing, hire a local guide or check with a bait shop prior to venturing out on any ice.

“They are traveling at their own risk out there and should bring an ice bar and check their way as they go,” advised Carolyn Swartz, co-owner of Anglers All.

She said anglers have been catching whitefish out by the lighthouse and finding perch and walleye near Second Landing.

“There are a lot of smelt out in the bay so we are looking forward to a great smelt season,” Carolyn added.

For the most complete and up-to-date fishing report, just give them a call at Anglers All and they will gladly keep you informed!
