4-2-14 Central Wisconsin Outdoor Report

Action is heating up on the local river system with abundant walleyes being taken by area anglers. Most action is on jig and minnow combinations in the deeper pools, but some nice fish are moving up towards shallower water on sunny days and in the evening.

Ice fishing is still going strong with good catches of crappies, bluegills and perch.  Most of the fish are in less than 10 feet of water and the best action is coming on tiny ice jigs tipped with waxies or spikes.  Use caution when heading out onto the ice at this time of the year as it is getting sketchy along shoreline areas and other areas with current can be especially dangerous.

Have a great week,

Phil Schweik
