1-7-14 Richland County Ice Fishing Report
By Wayne Morgenthaler The weather has been nice and cold for making good ice. The fish have been biting in most of the backwaters from Lone Rock to Boscobel. Just make sure you have at least wax worms and red worms. For some reason certain lakes one bait works better than others. Small jigs of about any color seems to work. Also, the time of day does not seem to make much difference yet. As the season goes along, the fish will do the early and late bite. The majority of fish has been pan fish, with some nice perch and crappies being taken. I would stop at local bait shops to get the latest reports. The bait shops are located on the edge of Lone Rock, downtown Richland Center, and downtown Muscoda. If you walk the backwaters, keep your eyes open for springs. Don’t forget to stop at the Richland County Chamber office located in town at the train station. They are great place to get maps and advice. The town offers some nice walking and biking trails to keep you busy during the days or just tour the shops. |
