1-22-14 Price County Report
The Butternut and Schnurs lake association held their annual fisheree this past Saturday. The weather was great and so was the turn out. The walleye action was good in the early morning and then late in the afternoon. Pike activity was good throughout the day. Walleyes were taken off the gravel bars in 6- 14 feet of water. The pike were locating off the weed edges in 3-6ft of water. Tip ups dressed with medium shiners saw the most activity but some fish were caught jigging darters and spoons. Ice conditions were ok. Some areas had more slush and water due to the warm weather and large amounts of drifting snow. Weather forecast predicts much colder temps this week.
As the weather fronts move through this time of year watch for peak lunar periods. These lunar periods can make for feast or famine when fish are subject to the changing weather patterns.
