2/20/13 Reported by Long Lake Bait & Tackle:
Fishing has slowed a bit from the nice pace that we had a week ago. Still catching some nice Walleye after dusk on Large Shiners & Suckers in about 5'-15' off the weed beds. Lots of big Northern reported in all depths and they like all bait! Some folks have even had one Northern take 2-3 tip-up lines at the same time! What a mess!!! Many Bluegills using waxies & Spikes (have to weed through the sizes to find the keepers). Crappie are out there but slow in around 15'-20' using Waxies and Crappie Minnows. Only a couple of weeks left of the Game Fishing Season as it closes on March 2nd, so fish while you can! Good Luck!
2/15/13 Reported by AAA Sports:
The fishing contests over the weekdn were well attended. The local fishing has been great..30" northerns, 16" crappies. But don't forget that those small northern are excellant pickeled, if your looking for a really good piclkled fish recipe let us know at aaasportshop@centurytel.net.
2/14/13 Reported by Jim Stroede:
Ice fishing in Washburn County remains good, and ice conditions are also good. Fishermen are reporting nice catches of bluegills and crappies on lakes in our area. Most fish are being caught on small ice jigs tipped with waxes or spikes, the bite on Spooner Lake has been good this winter as on other lakes too. Pike and bass are still hitting suckers and shinners under tip ups, but the action has slowed a little in recent days. Some new snow has really made adventures in the outdoors more fun too.
