Southern Wisconsin Guide Turns to Turtle Flambeau Flowage Expert
Turtle Flambeau Flowage: Early September
By Professional Guide Dave Duwe
I had the opportunity a week ago to fish with Jerry “Jerkbait” Hartigan. Jerry is a local guide and owner of the Flambeau Flowage Sports Shop in Mercer, WI. We fished the flowage one morning and tried to fish river channels with wood without success. Jerry moved us to some fish cribs in 12-15 ft of water and had very good success. We caught crappies, bluegills and walleyes all from the same crib. The water temperature is below 70 degrees. We were using Bait Rigs, Weedmaster jigs in 1/8 oz in green chartreuse. The bluegills were caught on slip bobbers with nightcrawler pieces about 6 inches off the fish crib. Some of the bluegills were in excess of 9 inches. Had a great day fishing with Jerry. Anyone interested in a trip should email Jerry at info@flambeauflowagesport.com
