Summer in full swing at Richland County
By Wayne Morgenthaler
Right now there are a number of activities that are about to take place or already have. If you are one that is looking for outdoor activities, I feel we have some very nice ones to offer. I just took a canoe trip down the Pine River from Bohen’s Mill (about 5 miles north of Richland Center) to the old community center. It takes about 2 hours depending on your control of the canoe or kayak. You don’t have the rocks to deal with but deciding how to navigate through the trees. The river is very pretty and keeps you on your toes as to what water path to follow. I think of it as a puzzle and trying to put all the pieces together. The river provides a nice challenge to those that don’t want a boring trip with no obstacles. The bike path is in excellent shape and provides enough shade for those hot days. The fish are biting but early morning or late evening is the best. The bass are hitting on floating rapalas and the pan fish like the plastic jigs about 1/32 ounce. The male bluegills are getting aggressive again and providing some good action.
