RICE LAKE FISHING REPORT 12-17-12
Well, we didn’t gain any ice this week. The rain took some of the ice away. The narrows on Red Cedar Lake have opened up again. I took a drive to several local lakes with bays that should have some ice. Most of the lakes had no fishermen, but some had tracks where anglers had tested the ice. These tracks were filled with water—not a good sign.
My Christmas wishes are simple this year. I would like safe ice. I don’t need to drive on the ice as there are plenty of spots we can walk to. I would like to take my grandkids out tip-up fishing. This usually turns into a full-contact sport as they race to get the flag first. Of course both Grandma and Grandpa would like to get out and catch a few crappies. We don’t need a lot of fish for a meal, just a little something between the salt and the plate.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
